Professional fine art, mostly contemporary, is presented in the City Arsenal Gallery. The latest events of the Arsenal have been presentations of performance art and the so called artistic events. The "Marszand" gallery is somewhat different in character, exhibiting the works of local artists.

The Ślendzinskis Gallery presents a collection of art and objects of historical value of the artistic family of the Ślendzinkis from Vilnius. Apart from the paintings, drawings, a sculpture and a relief of Aleksander, Wincenty, Ludomira and Julitta Ślendzinski, the gallery organises temporary exhibitions. Twice a month the: are organised, which are meetings with poets and writers in some way connected with the Eastern Borderlands of the country or with the voivodeship.

Many small private galleries with artefacts and works by local artists are located in the city centre. The art pieces, made of glass, metal, gems and sometimes amber, are very much a reflection of the atmosphere of the local land.

The city is also popular among young photographers, who usually present their work in the form of monographic exhibitions, often of an experimental character (in such galleries as Galeria Stotrzynacie, X RAM at the University, as well as galleries in the Youth Culture Centre, the Białystok Culture Centre, as well as the Voivodeship Centre of Art Animation).
